Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away at the age of 76 following a battle with cancer.
Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76. In January of this year, Eriksson disclosed that he had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer and was given a prognosis of “at best” one year to live.
His passing was confirmed by his agent, Bo Gustavsson, who stated that Eriksson died on Monday at his home, surrounded by his family.
A statement issued read: “Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away. After a prolonged illness, he passed away peacefully at home in the morning, surrounded by his loved ones.”
“The closest mourners are his daughter Lina; son Johan, his wife Amana, and granddaughter Sky; his father Sven; his partner Yanisette and her son Alcides; and his brother Lars-Erik and his wife Jumnong.”
The Swedish coach made history in 2001 as the first foreign manager of England, leading the nation’s so-called ‘golden generation.’
