Cristiano Ronaldo reveals where he is 'most likely' to retire.

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he might retire by 2027, but he remains focused on his current club, Al Nassr, for the foreseeable future. Ronaldo joined Al Nassr midway through the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League season after an intense exit from Manchester United just before the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

This move has been pivotal for Saudi Arabian football, with Ronaldo enjoying a resurgence in form. Over the past 20 months, his goal-scoring has flourished, highlighted by a remarkable tally of 50 goals in 51 games during the 2023/24 season, his best in eight years.

Ronaldo had already indicated at Euro 2024 that it would likely be his final European Championship with Portugal. While he hasn’t completely ruled out participating in the 2026 World Cup, the 39-year-old has suggested that his playing career may not extend much beyond that.

“I’m unsure whether I’ll retire soon or in two or three years, but it’s likely that I’ll end my career at Al Nassr. I’m happy here, both with the team and in the country. That’s why I believe I’ll probably finish my career at Al Nassr,” Ronaldo told Portuguese broadcaster Now. “I’m very happy playing in the Saudi Pro League and want to continue.”

Ronaldo’s current contract with Al Nassr is set to expire next summer.

There is no clear timeline for Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from international football. Having set world records with 212 caps and 130 goals, Ronaldo is currently struggling at Euro 2024 but remains committed to representing Portugal. He has stated that his retirement from the national team will be a spontaneous but carefully considered decision, with no advance notice.

“I am immensely proud to represent my country; it is a dream come true. When I decide to leave the national team, it will be a well-thought-out choice made spontaneously, but I won’t announce it in advance,” Ronaldo explained. “For now, I am focused on helping the team in upcoming matches, including the Nations League, which I am eager to participate in.”

In addition to his football career, Ronaldo recently launched a YouTube channel that is quickly approaching 50 million subscribers within its first week. While YouTube has been popular among American sports stars, it is less common among footballers. Ronaldo’s venture into this space indicates his interest in exploring life beyond the pitch.

He has also dismissed the idea of pursuing a coaching career, stating, “Right now, the thought of coaching a team does not interest me. I see myself exploring other opportunities outside of football, though only time will reveal what the future holds.”
